Spring Liver Detox

Spring is an excellent time to do a liver detox for five days.  I am about to follow this detox which is featured in the Natural Health Magazine April edition.

On rising:

Hot water and lemon juice

Breakfast:

A green smoothie, followed by eggs,avocado or goats cheese. ( Toasted rye bread – I am gluten free so will be missing this bread out.)

Lunch:

This is to be the biggest meal of the day.  A mixture of vegetables either steamed, roasted or stir fried or salad and protein such as sardines, chicken or turkey.  The protein must be no bigger than the palm of your hand.

 

Dinner:

No raw food with dinner.  A light meal of vegetables or a soup.  Note not to mix carbohydrates and protein.  Eat dinner before 7 pm, this way your body will be repairing over night rather than digesting.

 

Bedtime:

Take a hot water bottle to bed and wrap in a damp towel to use as a liver compress. Sleep with this over your liver, which is on the lower right side of your rib cage.
